Light is used to determine whether the pigeon eggs are fertile or not. When you point the eggs at a light source such as a mobile flashlight, if the inside of the egg is completely yellow, your egg is not productive. But if you see small veins in the egg, both yellow and red, this indicates that your egg is fertile.

For the light test, the egg must be at least 5 days old. Once you are sure that your eggs are fertile, you can place them in the incubator. Most pigeon eggs are incubated for about 18 days. Young pigeons should be kept under intensive care for up to 29 days after hatching.
